Common Uses –

1- In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, Terminalia bellerica has been used as a “health-harmoniser” and rejuvenating agent in Triphala, a Rasayana powder with Terminalia chebula (Haritaki) and Emblica officinalis (Amalaki). This combination is also used to lower cholesterol and to prevent death of heart tissue.

2- T. Bellerica is used for digestive disorders, including diarrhea, constipation, dysentery and indigestion. It has also been used to cure HIV infection. It is used to protect the liver and to treat respiratory conditions, including respiratory tract infections, cough, and sore throat. Also, it can be used as a lotion for sore eyes and as a douche for treating vaginal infections.

Indications – It is used externally in disorders of throat, eyes, cough, oedema, falling of hair, and premature greying of hair, skin disorders, and hoarseness of voice. It is used internally in thirst, vomiting, intestinal worms, constipation, rhinitis, cough, dyspnoea, weakness, leucorrhoea, and disorders of Vata.
